Ben Paynter returns…

Wightlink Raiders are delighted to confirm the return of popular forward Ben Paynter who is back for his third season with the club.

21 year old Ben joined the Raiders early in our play off winning season in 2014-2015 and in 92 competitive games has 11 goals, 25 assists and 198 penalty minutes to his name. Prior to playing on the Island Southampton born Ben came through the Bracknell junior programme and spent two seasons with the Hornets as well as playing EPL with the Bees.

Head coach Jeremy Cornish says Ben is the kind of guy all teams need on their roster going into a new season.

“ Ben Paynter brings full effort every time he steps on the ice and is my type of player. He rarely makes a mistake and can play all three forward positions which is a massive plus. Ben has been with me for a couple years now and is a massive part of our core within the club and is well liked by his team mates. A lot of the guys give him a hard time about his Dad Matt being a Raiders legend, but Ben is making his own case for becoming a Raiders legend himself. Quality person, solid hockey player and a guy you want on your team every year.”

Anyone wishing to sponsor Ben for the new season is asked to contact Steve Price via our Facebook. Our next player announcement will be later in the week.
