After last weekend’s disappointing zero point weekend, it was great to see our boys bounce back with a solid four point weekend. Saturday we hosted the Streatham Redskins in a very important cup game. We managed our best result on home ice this season with a 8-2 win. We have struggled to get to the net and pay the price to score goals, so in training this week we made sure to work on those key skills. Working on our shooting and driving defiantly paid off this weekend because we scored a pile of goals. Aslo, it was awesome to see Damon Larter back on the ice with the team. Damon will be covering for Nick Compton while he is out injured over the next few weeks.
Sunday we travelled to Cardiff and that is always a difficult place to take points on a Sunday night. Cardiff played a very safe game and tried to trap us in the middle of the ice, but our guys worked their tails off to secure a 4-2 win. A special well done needs to go out to Aaron Edwards who stepped in this weekend after I hurt my knee and played a regular shift. He scored a beautiful goal on Saturday night and was highly effective on Sunday in Cardiff.
This weekend we play Cardiff at home on Saturday and Solent away on the Sunday. Both games are massive league games and it will be top priority to make sure we get another four point weekend. I’ve noticed our crowds have been decent this season so far, but it would be great to see the arena even more full. One of the big attractions for players I recruit is our rink and crowds and I know they love playing in front of you. If you could bring a friend to the game on Saturday it would be great for both the Raiders and the rink. One last thing… I would like to thank all the supporters who have made the last couple of away games on the coach. It is always a great feeling when you know that we have your support on the road as well as at home.
See you Saturday.
