Under 13’s Bracknell vs Junior Raiders
With two wins under their belt the Raiders travelled to Bracknell with just 10 players for their first away game of the season hoping to continue the winning streak.
Bracknell were the first to score within the first minute of the game. Raiders began to find their feet on the larger rink with Kodi Coles getting a hat-trick with assists from Lucy Way, Shaw-Lusted and Curtis Allen. Excellent defence from George Terry, Seb Darleston-Jones and Luke Murray saw some Bracknell chances missed. Murray received a penalty for body checking but Oakley Shaw-Lusted scored a short handed goal bringing their tally up to 4. Shaw-Lusted continued to attack and fired a shot at the Bracknell keeper which hit the crossbar, with a chance of a rebound he shot again which was denied.
Bracknell were first to score just under 3 mins into the second period. A shot from Murray hit the cross bar. Bracknell lacked attack when they had the puck but kept the Raiders on their toes. Coles furthered the lead with the help of Jack Sheaf, with a goal in the 20th minute. The 24th minute saw Bracknell a man down with a penalty for roughing. Bracknell had another goal. With a minute left in the second Oliver Smith scored his first goal of the season for the Raiders bringing the score to 3-6 in favour of the visitors.
In a tense final period both teams tried hard. Bracknell received a body check penalty when Murray was knocked to the ice but managed to keep the Raiders from scoring while a player down. Two goals in the final period coming from Coles assisted by Way and Murray and Oakley Shaw-Lusted assisted by Terry saw the Raiders win their 3rd game of the season and placing them top of the South 2 league.
Man of the match went to Kodi Coles for his goal scoring and Spirit was awarded to Oliver Smith.
