Wightlink Raiders are tonight delighted to confirm the return of fans favourite Ben Paynter for the new season.
The 20 year old Southampton born forward joined from EPL Bracknell Bees early last season and made an immediate impact with his no nonsense style of play scoring 4 goals and 10 assists in his 48 games. His season was cruelly cut short by a broken arm in the play off final but he’ll be fit to start the new season in September.
Ben is the son of Raiders legend Matt Paynter and prior to moving to the Island had two seasons with the Bracknell Bees in the EPL as well as playing over 50 games for the Hornets in the NIHL.
Jeremy Cornish says Ben is a welcome return this summer
“Ben came into our club and immediately won us over with his hard work and his ability to play the game the right way. He doesn’t stop moving his feet and can play any forward position. Ben also never backs down from a challenge and is a player that every team needs to be successful. As our fans know, Ben’s dad was a Raider and Ben grew up around the Ryde Arena and his passion for our club is second to none.”
