Raiders fans will be delighted this evening with the news that star import forward Jaroslav Cesky will return for his second successive season with the team.
36 year old Cesky, one of the most experienced players in the British game, was the team’s top scorer last season with 49 goals and 63 assists from 57 games as well as 159 penalty minutes. He was star performer in the team’s play off championship campaign scoring 22 points in just 6 games.
Prior to joining the Raiders Cesky spent five seasons in the top 2 tiers of British ice hockey. His last club was Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite League but before that he played in the English Premier League for a number of teams, most notably Bracknell Bees where he scored 86 goals with 114 assists in just two seasons and was named EPL player of the year.
In his five seasons in the EPL he scored 154 goals with 205 assists in 353 league games making him one of the most prolific scorers in the league.
Jaroslav Cesky is from the Czech Republic and started his professional career in North America. His return is a big boost for the team and head coach Jeremy Cornish is delighted to have him back.
“We are very fortunate to have secured Jaro’s signature again this season. He is the best all-round import in our league and is a quality person off the ice. He dropped down to our league last year and didn’t disappoint. It took him a few weeks to settle in, but after he found his game he was unstoppable.
I’ll be looking for him to share more of the leadership responsibility within the team this year and I’m certain he will be able to succeed in that role.”
