This team has been through a lot of adversity this season and to now see us cap our season off with another trip to the play-off finals is fantastic. We had a very rocky start seeing us as low as seventh place early in the year, and to claw our way back to the top half of the table should show our group has come together and totally committed to what being a Raider is all about.
This past weekend we defeated the London Raiders in the semi-final and even though they had made it through because of a disqualification to Chelmsford, I thought the guys continued where we left off the week before against Bracknell. We had a packed crowd at the arena and I know the guys were buzzing after the first leg win.
This weekend we face an old rival, the Invicta Dynamos. They have had some success this year already, winning the league cup and I know they will want to relive that feeling again this coming weekend. Invicta have a very talented team and solid goal-tending that they will be relying upon to lead the way for them.
We will be ready, this weeks training will not be any different from the previous three weeks, we will continue to work hard and prepare for what will be the toughest weekend of the year. I think it’s fair to say the intensity level of this weekend will outmatch anything we have seen this year and the fact that both teams aren’t fond of each other should help add a little fuel to the fire.
Once again I would like to say a massive thanks to everyone who supports or are involved with the team, we have had some turmoil the last few weeks regarding our rink and to know we will be skating out to you on Saturday will give us a boost like no other.
I can’t wait for the puck to drop this Saturday and I hope every seat is occupied with a loud and proud Raiders supporter.
See you Saturday,
