This past Saturday we hosted Oxford in another important league game for our club. We played pretty well, and came out 10-5 winners.
We got ourselves into some penalty trouble in the second period and Oxford pulled the score back to 4-4. Once we got back to full strength the guys took over and put the game out of reach for the visitors.
Sunday we travelled to Invicta and lost 5-1 in a game that was played in front of a full rink and the guys played well in the first period, but things fell apart for us in the second.
This year’s Invicta team is the exact same as the teams from the past, but the only difference is Mark Lee in goal. I’ve known Mark since he was 16 and a back up with us while I played at Newcaslte and he was a very good goalie back then. Mark gives the Dynamos an opportunity to play their offensive game and not have to worry about the shots they give up because he is there the close the door. That’s exactly what he did last night. We had a number of very good chances to score, but he was always there to make the save.
Results are really mixed right now in our league and it is looking like the table will shuffle up and down as we enter the least half of the season. We have set a goal to get ourselves into a top three position to set us up in a better position for the play-offs and I think the guys have responded well the last few weeks. We have some massive games coming up and it’s going to be down to us to see how finish the season.
This weekend we host Cardiff and they are a promising young team that works hard for the full 60 minutes of a game. We desperately need to continue picking up points where we can. We still have the cup semi to play in February and play-offs are always my favourite time of year.
We had a decent crowd for the Oxford game and I think we have been playing some entertaining hockey of late.
See everyone Saturday,
