Finally we are seeing some progress, the guys played well in a 4-1 victory over the London Raiders on Sunday night at the Arena. They may not be the same team they have been the last few years, but it was a good game for us to finally find our form and dominate for a full 60 minutes.
We have been missing both Barker and Paynter the last couple weeks, so it was good to see guys stepping up and playing in situations they wouldn’t normally play in. We worked hard all night and had control of the puck for most of the game. It was really nice to see us moving the puck and playing the game the way I envisioned when we put this team together in the summer. We now have two league wins in a row, and even though that may not seem like a big deal, it is for us at this point of the season.
We have a couple more league games coming up this weekend and we could get on a good roll if we continue improving each week on the lead up to Christmas.
Milton Keynes Thunder come to the Arena this Saturday and they have to be the surprise team in the league so far. They did a fantastic job keeping a NIHL team running last year and it looks as though that is paying dividends so far. They don’t have any big names as some of the other top teams, but they have solid goal tending and players that are keen to work hard for each other.
Sunday we visit league leading Streatham Redskins and I believe we have been unfortunate each time we have played them. We have given up way too many shots against them and when you do that against a team of their quality we will always lose.
Our team will be prepared for this weekend and I’m hoping that our last two league games will help us moving forward and we should see ourselves moving up the table as the weeks wear on.
See you Saturday,
