Zero points, but massive strides.

Well, it’s not very often I can say I’m pleased after two losses, but the guys played some very good hockey this weekend and we are starting to see the potential this team really has.
We hosted the Swindon Wildcats on Saturday, and even though we lost 3-0 the guys played hard right to the end. I’m very certain if Stevie Lyle wasn’t in net for them their may have been a different outcome.
On Sunday we travelled to Chelmsford and it’s no secret that we have found games there in recent years challenging. On Sunday it was a different feeling though, we dominated for much of the game and out shot them by almost double. They still are a very good club, but to see us play better there than we have in a long time, it was a shame to come away empty handed.
I usually don’t mention individual players in my write up, but I think it’s about time to mention a few players that I’m happy with at the moment. Having Matt Colclough back has instantly given us a chance to win every game and the guys have welcomed him back with open arms. Also, Cesky is finding his form and he was the first to admit dropping down was difficult at first, but his line mates have been playing well also and that line is going to give some opposing team nightmares.  Finally, I would like to give a little credit to Chris Cooke, he has fitted in like he has been with us for a number of years and he has been outstanding teamed up with Carl Graham as a D pairing. He seems like a new player since joining us and it’s awesome to see his enthusiasm around the locker room and on the ice.
This weekend we have a double header at home and first we host the Guildford Flames. I would expect a much tighter contest then the away fixture was a few weeks ago. On Sunday Streatham come to town and they must be considered the surprise team of the season so far.
They have been playing some excellent hockey and we will be looking to avenge the late third period draw we had with them a couple weeks ago. That was a game we definitely deserved to win and we will be making sure we give ourselves the best chance to secure the points this time around.
See you on the weekend,
JC
