Things are coming together.

After a bit of an up and down start, I think it’s fair to say that the team is improving each week. We have moved ourselves up to third place, two points behind Chelmsford for the league lead.
This was a very difficult week for me as a coach, we had to let Christian Cole go and replace him with Matt Colclough. Matty is very familiar to Raiders fans as he has been with us for a number of years now. He will bring a little stability to our defence corps and when he messaged me last week saying he was coming home from travelling a couple months early I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to bring back a top goalie and person to our team.
This week we are preparing for two cup clashes, the first against an old EPL rival the Swindon Wildcats and then we face our old rivals the Chelmsford Chieftains. We played Swindon a few weeks ago and played very well in a 3-0 defeat. I think it will be a much closer contest on our ice and I’m looking forward to seeing how we match up with our current form.
Sunday will be our first meeting with Chelmsford and it will be good to see how we match up with the best team in the league.
I’m really impressed with the play of Tribe, Cesky and Barker at the moment and I’m sure they are going to give some teams headaches as the season wears on. Our Defence is certainly stronger then last season and it’s fantastic to see them moving the puck and making things happen from back there.
Overall, we have lots of work to do, but with twelve new players it was never going to be an easy task and to see progress each week is what excites me as a coach.
See you Saturday,
JC
