Wightlink Raiders have today bolstered their ranks with the signing of another new face to the league in Bobby Streetly.

The 20 year old Leeds born defenceman has played in the NIHL North for the last 4 seasons dividing his time between Bradford Bulldogs, Blackburn Hawks and more recently Sutton Sting.   In 111 games at that level he’s racked up 7 goals and 24 assists and comes to the club with a good reputation.

Head coach Jeremy Cornish says he expects Bobby to make a decent impact on the Island.

“Bobby is a young, hungry player and exactly the type of player we try to attract to the island. He’s a big solid defender and a player who is looking to improve his overall game. I have had some decent feedback from a former teammate of mine up north and he says Bobby will do a very solid job for us. “

Streetly will replace Kieran Annis in the Raiders squad after the young Islander was promoted at work meaning he’s unable to play this season although he will remain a registered player.  It’s hoped he’ll return to play again in the future and in the meantime we’d like to wish him well with his new position.

The team is also looking to sign at least one more player before the season starts and it’s hoped that announcement will come before the end of the week.

Bobby Streetly’s arrival means there are currently 7 new faces in the Raiders line up this season.  The first chance to meet the new guys will come on Thu 11th September at the Meet the Players night prior to their training session that night.
