The Raiders can today confirm the return of two of last year’s forwards for their third seasons with the club.
29 year old Craig Tribe will bring his size and experience to the team again after two seasons which saw him notch up 27 goals and 53 assists from 63 league starts. The Surrey born forward has EPL experience with Bracknell and Basingstoke and was also part of Bracknell Hornets ENL title winning team.
Head coach Jeremy Cornish is pleased to be retaining Craig’s services for another season.
“We are extremely happy to bring Craig back to the Island for the upcoming year. Craig is a skilled player that has been playing out of position for a couple seasons now and to be perfectly honest, I think he makes a fantastic centerman. This will be Craig’s third year on the Island and has now become one of my core players. Alex Barker scored over 40 goals for us last season and Craig was on the giving end of most of those goals. We will be looking for those two to link up again this year and cause goalies throughout the league some problems.”
Also back for season number three is Welsh born agitator Corey Watkins. 24 year old Corey made his name playing for his home club Cardiff before two seasons with Invicta Dynamos brought him to the Raiders attention. In his two years on the Island he’s scored 18 goals with 27 assists in 61 starts.
Cornish says Watkins has become an important part of his team and will be in the thick of the action again this year.
“Corey is now a massive piece of our core, last season saw him put up his best offensive numbers in our league and I will be looking at him to improve on those numbers once again. It’s tough not to like the way Corey plays the game, he’s tough and does all the little things right. When given the chance, Corey can produce points and having three balanced lines again this season will help him improve even more.”
