Raiders face Chieftains once again in the Play-off final.

This weekend will see the Wightlink Raiders in the play-off final for the fourth time in five years. Their opponent is a familiar one, having lost to them by one goal in last season’s final.

The Chelmsford Chieftains have won the League, South-East Cup and the League Cup this season and will be gunning to make a sweep of all competitions. Led by player coach Gary Clark, the Chieftains are a very strong all-round hockey club. They can light the lamp at will and do not give their opponents many opportunities to score.

The Wightlink Raiders come into this weekend on a nine game winning streak and a have found their form recently. They have had success on home ice against Gary Clark’s men, but have yet to beat them away from home. Leading from the front is Canadian import Matt Vizzari and he has come up with some big goals in recent games. For the Raiders to be successful over the two-legs, they must not give their Essex rivals any time with the puck and will not be able to take a shift off.

The opening game of the two game series is at the Ryde Arena on Saturday night at 6pm. The return leg is Sunday at 6:30 in Chelmsford. This is an exciting opportunity for fans to come down and support the players in their bid for the Play-off trophy.

Don’t forget if you want to make the trip to the 2nd leg in Chelmsford on Sunday, the coach will cost £20 and will be leaving the Rink at noon, contact Vicky or Steve as seats are selling.
