Play-off final here we come

What a weekend to be a Raider, the guys really came through this weekend and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried at times.

We hosted the Invicta Dynamos for the first leg of the semi-final on Saturday and came away with a 4-3 win. We played a very solid game and I was happy to leave the rink with a one goal lead heading into Sunday’s return fixture in Kent.

On Sunday we traveled to Invicta and even though they got out to a quick two goal lead, we battled back and came away winners. It was a tough game and we were heavily outplayed in the first period. Between the break we discussed that this could be our last game together and it was great to see the guys pull it together and battle back. Invicta are very talented team and it was good to see the guys stick to our game plan this weekend and play solid defence. The guys have really bought into our systems the last half of the season and as a coach I can really see guys making an effort and paying attention to detail.

This weekend we play Chelmsford and it seems we are always playing this team in finals. This will be our fourth final in five years and I would like to think it’s our turn. They are obviously the best team in the league and have won all the other competitions this year, but our team has shown a lot of character to get this far and if we play our game I think we have a chance. What a season this has been, second in the league and the play-off finals again. We really need everyone’s support this weekend at home and away.

We have yet to win away at Chelmsford this year, but we hadn’t won at Invicta either…

Let’s fill the arena this Saturday!
