This past weekend we had an away and home series with the London Raiders. On Saturday we played a rare away fixture at Lee Vally and jumped out to a early two goal lead. Things went down hill from that point and we ended up losing 6-4. We lacked any sort of jump in our step and I feel last weekend’s loss in Chelmsford may have knocked us back a little more than I had realised. London’s top line is excellent and they were the reason we came home empty handed.
We had a team meeting after the defeat and made sure we would be ready for Sunday’s return fixture in Ryde, but with only 7 players travelling to the island we couldn’t get the revenge we wanted. We did get a 10-0 win, but it wasn’t the game we wanted with a very good crowd in attendance. I felt sorry for the London players that did show up and I think a few of their guys who couldn’t make it will take a good look in the mirror and know they let their team-mates and friends down. On a positive note, with that win it keeps us top of the South East trophy and with one game to play in Chelmsford, we have a good chance at grabbing some silverware.
We travel to Streatham this weekend for a league game it is vital we get back on track and finish the season strong. We are in contention for both cups and play-offs, so have lots to play for. Looking at the team at present, we have some banged up bodies, but I
I’m sure all teams do at this point of the year, so we have to get on with our work and get on a roll.
Thanks again to all the fans that made an effort to attend Sunday’s game and I can promise we will have some exciting games down the stretch to make up for it.
Let’s get behind the guys as we roll towards the play-offs.
