RAIDERS SIGN TWO MORE

With just 4 days to go to the start of the season the Raiders can today confirm two additional signings for the squad for this year.

First new face is 17 year old defensive prospect Simon Hobbis who has signed on a two way contract with EPL side Basingstoke Bison.  Player coach Jeremy Cornish says Simon has huge potential and he’s keen to give him an opportunity to develop on the Island.

“I skated with Simon this summer and Doug Sheppard from the Bison thought it would be in Simon’s best interests to join us on a two-way this season. He’s young and keen to learn and I hope the island gives him the best opportunity to move up. We are excited to have added Simon to the team this year.”

Also signing for the Raiders is 24 year old forward Richard Nembhard.  A former Island junior Nembhard has spent the last three seasons with Solent and Gosport Devils scoring 34 goals with 47 assists from 69 games. Prior to playing for the Devils he started his senior hockey career on the Island with Wightlink Tigers.

The new season gets underway this Saturday with the visit of champions Chelmsford Chieftains for an ENL Cup match. Face off is at 6pm.
