Ryde, Isle of Wight – The Wightlink Raiders have finalised the deal to bring back All-Star Goaltender Matthew Colclough to the Cube for the upcoming 2013-2014 season. This will be Matty’s fourth season wearing the Raiders ‘R’ and he is the back bone to the club.
The Southampton born Colclough is one of the most exciting young net minders in British Ice Hockey and another full campaign on the Island can only aid in his development to move up the ladder in the future. Colclough played in 32 league games with a 92.36% save percentage and a 2.63 goals against average, good for second in the NIHL 1.
Head Coach Jeremy Cornish is thrilled to have his goalie back.
‘All great teams have solid goaltending and we are no exception to that rule. Matty gives us an opportunity to win every game and loves the pressure of being the ‘go to’ guy. He is a natural leader, he may not be the most vocal in the locker room, but leads us from the ice with his consistency and professionalism. I am very excited to have him back and I’m sure the fans will be delighted.’
Colclough is the first player signed by the Raiders this off-season and it was crucial to make sure that he put pen to paper for September.
