Back to back Raiders Cup Winners!
First of all I would like to thank all the supporters for coming out and watching Saturdays game, the guys really wanted to win the Raiders cup and it showed during both legs. Saturday I thought we played very well and stuck to the game plan. Romford is a first place hockey team and we have done extremely well against them the last three times we have faced them. I would like to think we would be very prepared to face them in the playoffs if we get them.
After the last few results I wonder if things would be different if we had come together right from the start of the year, but after so many changes from last year things take time. We have said it before that we are always building for the future and by adding key ingredients to the puzzle each year, we should be a competitive side at this level for years to come.
Sunday’s game saw us travel to Milton Keynes, they are a team that has given us a little bit of bother over the last couple years, but the guys went up there and made sure we stayed focus and came home with the two points. They are a hard working team and we had to make sure we got on their goalie early and took any confidence they may have had away.
I keep telling the guys to stay focused for 20 minutes at a time and we seem to be doing that, we are coming together quite well and I hope we hit full stride when the playoffs arrive. We still have some kinks to work out, and we are still making some of the same mistakes over and over. Hockey is a game of mistakes, but it’s the team that makes the fewest the usually win. This week in practice we will be preparing for both Bristol and Streatham, two teams that can’t be taken for granted. Bristol has made some considerable upgrades and they seem to be playing some very solid hockey of late. Streatham is another tricky side who is looking to avoid relegation, so they will be playing some desperate hockey. Both teams are beatable, so we need to make sure we continue to stick to the game plan and play Raiders hockey.
See you Saturday.
